A percussionist rubs, hits and caresses the surface of a skin, searching for sound. But what if the skin is not yet removed from the body? Not only does the rhythmic touch create a totally different sound, but it also causes a reaction in the bodies contacting each other.

HUiD (Skin) is a visual and musical performance exploring tactility and contact. In collaboration with the percussionists from Slagwerk Den Haag, the physical performers of Schweigman& explore the possibility of touch, searching for a purity of image, the tragedy and poetic perception of the skin.

Set design is by Theun Mosk, long-time associate of Schweigman&. Together with director Boukje Schweigman they create sensory spaces in which the fragility and intimately intense performance takes place. The musical composition of HUiD is created by Arnoud Noordegraaf in close collaboration with the percussionists. It forms a rich acoustic vocabulary, in which instruments and the human body produce sounds beyond their natural capacities.
